Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show News for Friday, February 19, 2016
Today’s Official Scottsdale Daily News is sponsored by Versace's Eros Partnership; Kelly Campbell, Casey Campbell, Cindy McPike and Cameron Nelson of California. Equine photographer, Kelly Campbell and her brother, Casey Campbell, a leading halter and performance trainer in the world of Miniature Horses, Shetland and Hackney Ponies have transitioned over to the Arabian horse breed. Cindy McPike and her son Cameron are award-winning owners and breeders of ponies. These partners are responsible for breeding and owning the spectacular 2016 Scottsdale International Gold Champion Yearling Colt, Versace's Eros. Sired by the legendary Versace, and out of the exotic Jumeriah Rose SWF by MA Shadow El Sher, Versace's Eros was born to be a star and bred to be a sire. He has already achieved his first landmark victory, here at the Scottsdale show, where he won his Yearling Class and was the highest scoring international yearling colt. Versace's Eros was presented to his wins by Sandro Pinha of Arabians International, Scottsdale, AZ. Sandro will continue to lead this stellar son of Versace throughout the 2016 show season.
The Scottsdale show was in full swing yesterday with classes being held in five arenas. From English and Hunter Pleasure, to Western, Reining and Working Western there were performance classes galore. It is incredible to see just how versatile the Arabian horse really is and I believe the Scottsdale Show is the best showcase of the breed in the world. Another area of competition was the Halter and Breeding Classes. The Al Shahania Wendell Arena hosted the Three, Four and Five-Year-Old Mares as well as the Three and Four-Year-Old Stallions. Many of these competitors have appeared in the Scottsdale show ring in previous years and were returning for additional accolades. A personal favorite – and we all have them – was the lovely bay Jullye Al Gazal XX ( SF Veraz x Beautiful Juell V), bred by Larry Schopf and owned by Marcos Tinoco.
The Scottsdale show rings are full of super stars. Where do you to find the perfect mount? English pleasure enthusiasts didn't have to look far to find an amazing group of prospects. Thursday evening Stachowski Farms hosted their annual Select Sale presentation and the horses were gorgeous and talented. It was a full house fo the presentation, which was beautifully organized and ran like clockwork. Even if you were new to the horses, the sale was easy to follow. The horses were grouped according to their level of proven or potential talent: Silver, Gold, and Platinum, etc. The excitement and thrill of the horses grew as the levels advanced. It was really fun and the horses were absolutely spectacular. If that didn't make you want to own an Arabian or Half-Arabian, I don't know what will. I wanted them all – dream on!
Friday at WestWorld promises to be yet another exciting day. Special events will be held throughout the day including Behind the Scenes BarnTour, Camel Rides, Liberty Wildlife Live animal Display and Education, Meet an Arabian Horse, and an educational program called, “So You Want To Buy An Arabian Horse – Learn the Ins and Outs and What To Look For”, by Dr. Laura Harris. Checkout those fun and informative opportunities and then head over to the arenas to watch the beautiful horses and riders competing.
Also on Friday at the Al Shahania Wendell Arena will be the breeding classes for senior mares and stallions. These classes will showcase some National, International, and World Champions – I am certain it will be very exciting. Come cheer on your favorite – I hope to see YOU ring side!
